The Project
Before we start with the project it is necessary to gain some knowledge about the village art and culture. It will help to understand the customs and traditions of the people. On your visit here we will visit Madhyamik Ashram Shala, a school in Ganjad (Dhanu) where you will get a hands on experience of these cultural activities. This will provide an opportunity to the students of the three schools Jan Van Brabant, Lilavatibai Podar High School and Madhyamik Ashram Shala to interact with each other and respect their differences while finding common grounds - 'Quest For Knowledge'

Now that you know a little about the village art & culture its time to get started with the Project. Given below are the details of your project and the groups you will be working in. Looking forward to seeing some creative teaching aids.
The Eumind Visit to Ganjad (Dahanu) on 17/12/15
The Eumind Group consisting of students and teachers from Jan Van Brabant, Helmond & Lilavatibai Podar High School, Mumbai visited the Achraya Bhise High School, Kasa & the Madhyamik Ashram School, Ganjad as part of the S.U.P.W activities. Upon their arrival the group received a traditional Indian welcome with rose flowers & tikka followed with a welcome song by the students.
The teachers from Jan Van Brabant, Helmond engage in various activities with the students at Ganjad.
No matter how much we love the vibrant city of Mumbai our visit to the Dahanu village was a great chance to see another of the many faces of India. Along the route I saw birds and trees I have never seen. After a most generous welcome seeing the classrooms with the Warli paintings is a sight I will never forget. The way of communicating through the living folk art is amazingly beautiful. The meal we had with the teachers with homegrown vegetables and rice was delicious. The students of the three schools got on very well and they worked, learned and danced together with mutual respect and interest. Our students were struck by the purity of life and it made them look differently at their own gadget filled days. I do hope I will be able to repeat this trip some other day.

On my visit to Dahanu I was impressed by the generosity and the welcome offered to us. The teaching staff was so open and welcoming. I was impressed by their idealism and zeal to provide the children with education. I hadn't expected the large number of students at the school. It was interesting to see how the community was self sufficient. The art work in the school was done very intricately. It brightened the building and showed how proud they are of their cultural heritage. The 'Tarpa Dance' was fun to watch and the fact that we were allowed to join in made it even more interesting. I was honoured that the girls braided my hair so beautifully. I will never look as pretty again. It was a day I will never forget & hopefully i will return next year for a new visit.
